My Journey to Reiki: From Pain to Healing
I’ve always known there was more to life than what we see on the surface. From a young age, I was fascinated by the world’s many religions and cultures, especially the ancient ones. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there were deeper truths to uncover, something beyond the everyday and the routines everyone gets caught up in.
But as life would have it, my spiritual journey was anything but straightforward. In fact, it took a turn I never expected, and it was a painful, life-altering experience that ultimately led me back to the very thing I had been searching for: inner growth and Holy Spirit.
Losing Faith and Finding Myself Again
As a child when my grandmother passed away, something in me shifted. At the time, I was young, and her death left a void that I couldn’t fill. She was like a mother to me and I stopped believing in God. I stopped believing in much of anything, really. The foundation of my spiritual life crumbled, and I found myself struggling to navigate the world without the anchor I had once known. I couldn’t understand how she could be taken away from me in a matter of moments.
In the years that followed, I grappled with grief, loss, and a growing sense of disconnection. I felt as if I was constantly floating through life without a real sense of direction or purpose. I was lost. As a teenager my life was upside down but it wasn’t until I hit rock bottom as a young mother, at a time in my life when I felt the most alone and uncertain, that I realized something had to change.
It was in this darkest hour that I heard the quiet whisper of meditation. The idea of it came to me almost like a lifeline thrown into a stormy sea. I now know this was a hit from my intuition. My soul was trying to guide me back to myself. At first, it was just a small seed of curiosity. What if meditation could help me reconnect to something greater? What if it could help me change my life?
The Healing Power of CBD
Around the same time, I started exploring ways to cope with the overwhelming anxiety that had taken hold of me. I had struggled with panic disorder for more than half of my life, relying on strong medications to bandaid my symptoms. As a single mother, working two jobs and going to school, I didn’t want to be dependent on them anymore. I wanted to find a more natural way to calm my mind and body, a way to feel more in tune with myself as well as set a better example for my kids. I didn’t want my children to feel how I felt as a kid with a mother who didn’t understand or help me with my emotional sensitivity.
That’s when I discovered CBD. After trying it, I noticed a profound shift. It helped me feel calmer, more centered, and more grounded in my own body. The anxiety that had once ruled my life became more manageable. I began to see the power of natural healing, and it opened the door to more holistic practices, meditation started to come easier to me.
Meditation became a lifeline. It was as if my body and mind began to trust the process, and I could feel the stillness it brought. I could finally breathe, really breathe, without the tightness and tension that had been a constant companion for so long. Journaling became a natural extension of this process, allowing me to work through my thoughts and feelings in a safe, sacred space. It wasn’t an overnight transformation, but over time, I felt myself coming back to life, piece by piece.
The Introduction to Reiki: A Turning Point
The turning point in my healing journey came when I was introduced to Reiki. At that time, I had been dealing with constant neck pain and tension due to stress that I had been holding onto for far too long. I had heard about Reiki, but I didn’t really know much about it. I was open to anything that might help ease the physical and emotional discomfort I was experiencing, so when someone offered me a Reiki session, I was eager to try it.
That first session was unlike anything I had ever experienced. As I lay there, feeling the practitioner’s hands hovering over me, I could feel the energy moving through me. There was a warmth, a gentle vibration that seemed to permeate every fiber of my being. The tension in my neck began to release, and I felt a sense of peace I hadn’t known in years. It was like a long-held weight was being lifted from my body.
A Path I Didn’t Expect
After that session, people began telling me that I should become a Reiki practitioner myself. They could see something in me, that I could not at the time because I wasn’t ready to take that step. My life was still in upheaval, and I was trying to navigate a toxic relationship that had taken a toll on my emotional, mental and financial well-being.
It wasn’t until years later, after breaking free from that relationship, that Reiki reappeared in my life, almost like a sign that it was time for me to fully embrace it. The universe had been nudging me toward this path, and I finally answered the call.
Taking the leap to become a Reiki practitioner wasn’t easy. It required me to let go of the past, to heal wounds I had been carrying for so long, and to trust that this was the path I was meant to walk. But as I started my training, I could feel myself transforming. The more I learned about energy, healing, and how Reiki works, the more I realized that this was what I had been seeking all along, connection, transformation, and the ability to help others who were suffering like I had.
A Journey of Healing and Service
Now, as a Reiki Master, I look back on my journey with gratitude. Reiki didn’t just heal my body, it healed my soul. It brought me back to a place of balance, of harmony, and of trust in the flow of life. I realized that healing isn’t just about physical relief, it’s about reconnecting to our true selves, to the energy that flows within and around us.
Through Reiki, I found my purpose: to help others discover the peace, healing, and transformation that I had found. It’s a rewarding experience to be able to share this practice, to guide others on their own healing journeys, and to witness the shifts and breakthroughs that Reiki can bring.
If you’re on your own journey of healing, seeking peace, balance, and a deeper connection to yourself, I encourage you to explore Reiki. Sometimes the path we are meant to take doesn’t look the way we expect, but if we trust it, we can find ourselves exactly where we need to be.
